Here is a sampling of response to this CD:

"Aardvark Steps Out, footprints a rumble with jurassic import and power. The uncontrollable aspects of a juggernaut unleashed provide much of the Aardvark's awe-inspiring audience fascination."  Downbeat

". . . relentless dedication to a cutting-edge approach . . . with exciting exploratory solos."  Boston Globe

"Aardvark Steps Out is a bracing walk on the wild side of the big band spectrum. . . Aardvark suggests the best and brashest of Charles Mingus, Gil Evans, George Russell, and even Frank Zappa. . . In all, a refreshing breath of spirited yet structured rebellion from the tried and true. On, Aardvark!"  Jazz Times

Recent: Satire & Salutations PDF Print E-mail

Aardvark’s recent November Post-Election concert, funded in part by the MIT DeFlorez Fund for Humor and entitled “Satire & Salutations” was a rollicking event. Quotes from Mark Twain, and the spirit of H. L. Mencken held sway as Mark Harvey’s original pieces such as “Flat Earth Boogie,” “De-Evolution Blues,” and “Scamology” evoked the political/cultural scene, introduced by hilarious anecdotes from former De Florez Professor Jay Keyser, a member of the orchestra.

And the standing-room-only crowd also heard a salute to past “Rascals & Scoundrels” James Michael Curley and Charles Ponzi.  All in all, a  musical-satirical evening that neatly counterpointed the best of our national stand-up comics. The event was held at Killian Hall, MIT.
